The Dubai Fountain fills Burj Lake in Downtown Dubai with synchronized water, music and lighting beside Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa. When performances are operating, visitors can choose between the open waterfront promenade, a closer floating boardwalk view, or a separately ticketed abra ride on the lake.
Current Operating Status
The show is currently listed as active.
If a temporary suspension is shown here, treat it as overriding the routine timetable until performances resume.
How the Dubai Fountain Schedule Works
The regular program combines afternoon performances with a longer evening run. The daytime timetable differs on Fridays, while the evening pattern normally follows the same daily interval structure.
Schedule Pattern
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, performances are scheduled at 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM. Friday, performances are scheduled at 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM. Daily, performances are scheduled at 6:00 PM, 6:30 PM, 7:00 PM, 7:30 PM, 8:00 PM, 8:30 PM, 9:00 PM, 9:30 PM, 10:00 PM, 10:30 PM, and 11:00 PM.
The fountain does not run as one continuous display. Each scheduled performance is a separate choreographed sequence, so an evening visit may offer several opportunities to watch from different parts of the lakefront.
Temporary operational pauses and special-date changes can take precedence over the routine timetable. The current operating status is therefore more useful than relying on an older schedule copied from a travel itinerary or previous visit.
Water, Music and Light on Burj Lake
The fountain system was designed by California-based WET and uses choreographed jets, lighting and a changing musical program rather than repeating a single fixed routine throughout the day. The music can shift between Arabic selections and international pieces, so consecutive performances may not look or sound identical.
Water jets can reach about 140 meters above the lake. That height is easiest to appreciate from a viewpoint that leaves enough open water in front of you rather than placing you directly against a narrow section of railing.
The Fountain After Its 2025 Renovation
The Dubai Fountain reopened on October 1, 2025 after a five-month closure for renovation. Emaar said the first phase included work on tiling, water insulation and painting, along with maintenance intended to support the fountain’s continued operation.
The surrounding setting is part of what makes the performance easy to combine with other Downtown Dubai stops. Burj Khalifa rises immediately beside the lake, Dubai Mall borders the main promenade, and Souk Al Bahar sits across the water.
Choosing a Place Around the Lake
Viewing is listed as free to view.
The public promenade around Dubai Mall provides an open view across Burj Lake without requiring the separately ticketed fountain experiences. Moving farther along the waterfront can change the angle considerably because the fountain installation stretches across a broad section of the lake.
- Dubai Mall waterfront promenade: a straightforward choice for viewing the fountain with Burj Khalifa and the lake in the same area.
- Dubai Fountain Boardwalk: a floating walkway extending onto Burj Lake. Emaar states that it brings visitors to within about 9 meters of the fountain. It is a separate ticketed experience.
- Dubai Fountain Lake Ride: a traditional abra experience on Burj Lake that provides a water-level perspective during the fountain program. Booking and admission are handled separately from free promenade viewing.
- Souk Al Bahar side: the opposite side of the lake provides another angle toward the fountain and Dubai Mall, with several nearby dining terraces.
Viewing Tip
If you want to see more of the fountain pattern at once, leave some distance between yourself and the nearest jets. The closer Boardwalk position gives a different perspective, emphasizing the height and movement of the water rather than the widest possible lake view.
Getting to the Fountain
The fountain is beside Dubai Mall at the foot of Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai. Emaar directs visitors arriving through the mall toward the Lower Ground Level and the promenade.
Dubai Mall parking can be used when arriving by car. By metro, the relevant stop is Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Station, with the Metro Link Bridge connecting the station toward Dubai Mall. Taxis and ride-hailing services also serve the Downtown Dubai area.
